Junior-college offensive lineman Stone Underwood gave his commitment to West Virginia’s 2013 football recruiting class back on Monday. He spent this past season playing at Copiah-Lincoln Community College out of Mississippi under head coach Glenn Davis.
“I think Stone is going to be one of those hidden gems that a lot of people didn’t know about,” Davis said on Tuesday’s MetroNews Statewide Sportsline. “He was a guy that we had recruited out of high school and we thought he had a tremendous upside…He’s a tremendous athlete for an offensive lineman and I think he’s going to be a steal for them.”
As for that athleticism, Davis said Underwood can run a 4.8.
“He can do things that most offensive linemen can’t do,” Davis said. “He’s a guy that can run and is athletic. He can get to the second or third level on guys pretty easy and he’s great on screens.”
You can watch the complete interview with Davis above.

Hopefully we get some defensive linemen that can rush the passer. The whole group looked like a bad high school defense last year

I know we had a great offense, but we must remember that Stedman, Geno, Austin and Alstin are all leaving. We need to replace them. Also, our defense was not the only part of our team that was bad. Too often Geno was sacked. That has to mean that the OL did not protect his as they should have.
Also hoping for some defensive players, but we have a great deal to work for. Offense, Defense and special teams.
I am looking forward to 2013 and our new team. Also looking forward to seeing many from the 2012 in the NFL. GOOOOOO MOUNTAINEERS

Stone Underwood will be a great asset to the Mountaineers team. I have grown up with him and i have watched him excel on and off the football field. Like Coach Davis said during the interview, this was his first year as center and only a few days into the season he broke his right hand and instead of complaining and sitting on the sideline he stepped up to the plate and snapped left handed and helped lead the Co-Lin football team to become State Champs. He is an amazing player and an even better person. He will only get better from here i can promise that. The Mountaineers should be proud to gain such a great teammate.

Geno held the ball too long and sometimes had opportunities to run the ball.......don't blame it all on O-line failure.......Geno failed at times.

I am wondering why we are going to these other states and getting kids the big time schools don't want instead of recruiting some of these big tough country boys? Oliver won't respond to my emails about this because he knows I am right.

I have looked at all of our commits and we have some really good ones. We have seven four star commits. However, I do wonder why we lost a four star WR from Charleston to NC. I noticed we recruited him, but he is commited to NC. He is not signed yet. Are we still trying to get him?
