DeAndre Kane leaving Marshall

Marshall basketball coach Tom Herrion announced Tuesday that guard DeAndre Kane, the team’s second-leading scorer last season, won’t be returning for his final year of eligibility with The Herd.

“After meeting with DeAndre, I have decided it is in our program’s and his best interest that he seek opportunities elsewhere,” said Herrion. “We appreciate his contributions to our team and wish him the best in his future.”

Kane averaged 15.1 points per game for The Herd last season and led the conference with 7.1 assists per game. He also ranked eighth nationally in assists.

The 6-foot-4, 195-pound guard from Pittsburgh could continue is college career elsewhere next year. He is on pace to graduate from Marshall in May and could enroll in graduate school next year and be eligible to play immediately.
