Assistant: Eger’s ankle injury not severe

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Two days after re-injuring the right ankle on which he had surgery in January, senior Pat Eger was held out of practice Thursday. But the injury doesn’t sound severe, considering the offensive lineman was moving around in a red non-contact jersey and riding a stationery bike during the half-hour of media viewing.

“He’ll probably be out a little while,” said offensive line coach Ron Crook, adding that this injury wasn’t related to the procedure Eger underwent after the Pinstripe Bowl.

“I don’t think it’s going to be anything that bothers him long-term. More of a precaution this time of year, we’ll hold him out of some stuff.”

Eger, after moving to guard midseason in 2012, has been working at center this offseason, along with redshirt freshman Tyler Orlosky.

Crook said two other redshirt freshman guards — Tony Matteo and Russell Haughton-James — also will work at the position.
