An Oak Hill man is behind bars after police found a dead man in his apartment Monday.
Oak Hill police were called out to Jeffrey Dale Lafferty’s apartment at 1440 East Main St Monday regarding a trespassing complaint.
Upon arriving at the residence, officers found Michael Sheets, 46, of the Scarbro area, dead inside.
After an initial investigation, police arrested Lafferty and charged him with murder.
Lafferty, 39, was taken to Southern Regional Jail. Sheets’ body was taken to the state medical examiner’s office.
The investigation is ongoing.
