The Chairman of the West Virginia Republican Party says national GOP leaders think they have a message delivery problem.
“Our founding principles are very key to the future because we believe strongly in our platform, but we know we need to work on our campaign mechanics,” Conrad Lucas said.
He was part of the Republican National Committee’s Winter Meeting in Charlotte last week where Republicans chartered a new path ahead of elections in 2013 and 2014.
“We are looking at some of the flaws from the 2012 election cycle to make sure that going into 2014 and particularly 2016, we address those, such as our ground game, our technological disadvantages,” he said.
Lucas says the new effort is called “Renew, Grow and Win.” He says the idea is to better articulate the existing Republican principles of freedom, personal responsibility and less government while improving tactics to reach voters.
“We’ve got to stop treating national elections as just a series of battleground states because, truly, we can win anywhere,” Lucas said on Wednesday’s MetroNews Talkline.
