Herd lands pledge from 3-star QB

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Marshall received a commitment from one of its top targets in the class of 2014 when Georgia quarterback Cole Garvin informed coaches he plans to play for The Herd.

Garvin is a 6-foot-1, 196-pound pro-style quarterback who is entering his senior season at Sandy Creek High School in Tyrone, Ga. Garvin is considered a three-star prospect by Rivals.com and 24/7Sports.com. During his junior season, Garvin passed for 2,491 yards and 20 touchdowns and led Sandy Creek to a 15-0 record.

According to Rivals.com, Garvin received scholarship offers from the likes of FIU, Louisiana Tech, Middle Tennessee State, Southern Miss and Western Kentucky. Garvin had garnered some attention from Alabama, Missouri, North Carolina and Oklahoma State although had not received an offer from those schools.

Garvin is expected to graduate from high school in December and enroll in college in January.
