A pair of prospects took to Twitter over the weekend to announce their intentions to attend Marshall University. Defensive back D’Andre “Chocolate” Wilson and offensive lineman Chris Huhn both tweeted they have decided to continue their football careers with the Thundering Herd.
The news broke Sunday through social media. Huhn tweeted “I am officially committed to play football at #Marshall!! GO HERD!! Couldn’t be happier with my decision!!” Wilson didn’t need all 140 characters to make his decision public, he simply stated “I’m committing to Marshall University #HerdNation.”
Depending on which recruiting firm you ask, Wilson is consider a 3 or 4 star prospect. The 5-foot-9, 160 cornerback from Myrtle Beach, S.C. had also been offered scholarships from N.C. State, Purdue, Missouri and Mississippi. Rivals.com rates Wilson as the 72nd best cornerback prospect in the country and the 11th best prospect in South Carolina. ESPN.com rated Wilson a bit higher, ranking him as the 29th best cornerback in the nation and 7th best in South Carolina.
Meanwhile, Huhn is a 6-foot-6, 290 pound tackle who had previously committed to Western Kentucky. Rivals.com, Scout.com and ESPN.com all rate the offensive lineman from Pickerington, OH as a three-star recruit.
Of course, these are only verbal commitments. National Signing Day is Feb. 6th.
