Gamblers in Ohio are no longer allowed to use video lottery machines that payout more than $10.
Gov. Ted Strickland signed House Bill 177 into law on Thursday. The anti-gambling legislation outlaws so-called "skill-based" slot machines like Tic Tac Fruit, Puzzlebug and Treasure Quest.
“The people of Ohio have spoken with a clear voice on this issue time and time again,” Strickland said. “They do not want an expansion of gambling in their state. I appreciate the General Assembly taking quick action to get these machines out of our state and out of our communities.”
According to Strickland and Attorney General Marc Dann, about 50,000 of these types of machines are in the state.
The ban goes into effect immediately.
