The search for a new dean at the WVU School of Medicine will begin soon.
WVU Chancellor of Health Sciences Doctor Christopher Colenda told a standing room only crowd at the health sciences center Thursday that a nationwide search would take place. The dean of the WVU School of Pharmacy, Patricia Chase, will chair the search.
Dr. Colenda is in first full week on the job in Morgantown. He also announced Thursday the start-up of a planning process for the health sciences center. Colenda says there will be a "living document" by June 2010 that will cast a vision for health sciences through 2015.
Colenda says faculty, staff and students will be part of the planning process.
Doctor Jim Brick is currently the interim WVU Medical School Dean. He was appointed after the April 2008 resignation of Doctor John Prescott.
