Two discount grocery sales will be held this weekend for current and retired members of the military.
Those sales will be held on Saturday and Sunday in Wheeling at the National Guard's Army Aviation Support Facility on Girtys Point Road and at the Eleanor National Guard Complex in Putnam County.
"In today's economy, it's a great opportunity for them to try to save money. The average savings is 30% to 60%," says Sergeant JennyMae Pridemore.
Each sale will offer fresh meat and produce, canned goods, snacks, household cleaning and personal care items, snacks, pet food, water and sports drinks among many other things.
Any current or retired service member from any branch of service with a valid military ID can shop at one of the sales. Family members of those in the service can come as well with a valid military ID.
Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday in Wheeling. In Eleanor, sale hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.
Eight such sales have been held throughout the state in the past year, with more than 3,300 customers. Dates for future sales have not yet been set.
