Former Mountaineer basketball standout Kevin Jones was waived over the weekend by the NBA’s Cleveland Cavaliers.
Jones had signed a free agent deal with the Cavs after being passed over during the two round NBA draft in June.
The 6-foot-8, 250 pound Jones appeared in two pre-season games with the Cavs as he had five rebounds in a total of 18 minutes.
Jones led the Big East Conference in both scoring and rebounding as a senior last year. He averaged 19.9 points and 10-9 rebounds per game.
