There are changes at the top for West Virginia’s two largest political parties.

On Thursday, West Virginia Democratic Party Executive Director Derek Scarbro announced he will be leaving that position in March.  He has been Executive Director since January 2009.

“I have greatly enjoyed my time here helping candidates run for office and working with dedicated West Virginians across the state,” Scarbro said in a statement.

His replacement has not yet been hired.

The new Executive Director for the West Virginia Republican Party will be William Ward Wyatt.  Wyatt, who most recently managed the campaign for Republican Agriculture Commissioner Candidate Kent Leonhardt, starts next month.

The Texas native replaces Chad Holland who has been the Republican Executive Director since 2011.
