A preliminary hearing will be scheduled for an Oak Hill man charged with murder following a shooting death.
Police allege Terreque Gray, 23, intentionally shot Maurice McCain, 26, at an Oak Hill house Thursday.
Gray told police the .40 caliber handgun went off accidentally when he sat down and put it on his left leg. Investigators say there was no physical evidence to prove Gray’s explanation. They also say that type of gun is designed not to accidentally discharge.
McCain suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the face.
Gray is being held in the Southern Regional Jail.
