MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — After Tuesday’s windy workout at Milan Puskar Stadium, quarterback Paul Millard summed up his relationship with redshirt freshman Ford Childress: “I hate the kid.”
Millard was kidding, of course, though the competition is intense with the pair striving to replace Geno Smith as West Virginia’s starter.
“Me and Ford, we both understand what’s at hand and that the best guy’s going to play,” said Millard, who will be a junior next fall. “We’re both here to win games and we want great things to happen for this university and the football program.”
And how about the pressure of replacing Smith, WVU’s career passing leader and highest-projected quarterback in the NFL draft?
“Geno was a heck of a player but he’s out of here now and somebody else has got to take the reins,” Millard said. “I’m just working hard each and every day to do that. It’s a heck of an opportunity for me just to be competing for the job.”
Check out part of the Tuesday’s interview with Millard above.

Notre Dame tranfer QB, Gunner Kiel, is evaluating a possible tranfer to WVU. He was the #1 QB prospect coming out of high school 2 years ago. He is 6'4" and a rifle for an arm. Pure pocket passer. Perfect for the Air-raid offense. Can Holgorsen entice this QB to enroll at WVU??? Kind of short on QB's in camp now.

If both Ford and Millard want to be the Mountaineer QB the competition should get us a great one. Looking forward to seeing who wins and who truly wants to be our QB. Who ever does they have to be who they are. No one takes over where another left off. I hope for much better this coming year.
We really need a defense though. Sure hope we are much better on that side. No one can put up 70 every game. I want to hear how our defense is fighting to be the best they can be. Congrats to Paul on his upcoming marriage. If Gunner Kiel is not good enough for ND he is not good enough for WVU.

It seems we have already been taged to lose to Oklahoma in the second game of the season. I for one believe we will win that game. We do better as underdogs and we are a lot better than Oklahoma. GOOOOOO MOUNTAINEERS
