There is a new Director for West Virginia’s Office of Miners’ Health, Safety and Training.
Governor Earl Ray Tomblin has selected Deputy Director Eugene White to replace outgoing Director C.A. Phillips who is retiring.
“Eugene has the respect and support of our miners and our companies. He will do a great job,” Governor Tomblin said of his selection in a statement.
The appointment will take effect immediately.
White is a former coal miner who has worked with the state mine safety office since 2001. He is also a member of West Virginia’s Mine Emergency Team.
