Nursing program at Salem maintains accreditation

SALEM, W.Va. — Salem International University’s (SIU) Associate of Science in Nursing program will continue to be accredited .

The West Virginia Board of Examiners for Registered Professional Nurses Friday approved the continuation of provisional accreditation of the program.

The decision reverses the Board’s earlier June 13 decision to withdraw provisional accreditation.

With provisional accreditation, the university can continue to offer the program that prepares students to sit for the State Board’s RN exam.

The Board’s decision comes with certain requirements the university must meet in order to keep the provisional accreditation.

SIU is celebrating its its 125th anniversary this year.
