Alex Wiederspiel is the News Director and afternoon anchor of WAJR-AM in Morgantown.
He started his career in television in June 2012 with WDTV in Bridgeport, WV as a weekend reporter–eventually moving on to sports reporting, anchoring the sports desk, covering the breaking news beat, and the Monongalia County beat.
Alex joined the MetroNews family in May 2015 as a reporter/anchor based in Summersville. In July 2016, he became the News Director for MetroNews affiliate “The AJR News Network” based in Clarksburg. In May 2017, he joined Morgantown’s WAJR-AM as their news director, continuing his trip north with the MetroNews family.
Alex is a native of Lawrenceville, New Jersey–who moved to West Virginia in August 2007 to attend WVU and study broadcast journalism. At WVU, he spent five years with the award-winning college radio station WWVU-FM, also known as U92, as a reporter, anchor, producer, sports director, and play-by-play commentator.
When he’s not in the field or behind the mic, Alex religiously and masochistically follows the New York Rangers and New York Jets. He also enjoys staying up-to-date with current affairs, national politics, and Game of Thrones.
