2-2-2 drawing means record payout for West Virginia Lottery

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A 20-year record was broken at the West Virginia Lottery Monday night when the numbers 2-2-2 were drawn for the Daily3 game, Lottery officials said Tuesday.

The popular combination resulted in 1,443 winning tickets each with a payout of $500. The total payout was $360,750, a new record for the game, Lottery spokesman Randy Burnside said.

“When you get a number like 2-2-2 a lot of loyal players who play Daily3 regularly usually come out on top in a big way,” Burnside said.

The tickets cost $1 each so the payout was much more than what the Lottery took in.

“It wasn’t good day for the house but that’s okay we like to see people win,” Burnside said.

The previous Daily3 payout record took place on Jan. 13, 1996 when the numbers 1-2-3 were drawn.

The winning tickets can be cashed at any Lottery retailer.

The Daily3 was first introduced as a West Virginia Lottery game in March 1987.
