Pedestrian Killed In Kanawha County Accident

A St. Albans woman is dead after being hit by a car late Wednesday night near Nitro.

Kanawha County Sheriff’s Dept. deputies say Sara Lowery, 22, and Henry Stuck, Jr, 40,. were walking along the 400 block of Cross Lanes Drive around 10:55 when the accident happened. A witness was able to tell investigators what occurred.

"They believed that the male and female individual had been in some type of altercation or disturbance just prior to the crash happening," according to Capt. B.C. Robbins with the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Department.

The driver of the car, Curtis Schoolcraft of Poca, couldn’t avoid hitting the pair.

"[Lowery and Stuck] were in the traffic lane. Capt. Jess Bailes, in the preliminary report, finds no fault with the driver of the vehicle at all," Robbins said.

No charges have been filed against Schoolcraft and none are expected.

Lowery was pronounced dead at the scene. Stuck is in satisfactory condition at CAMC.

Just last week a pedestrian was hit and killed along Route 60 in Jefferson in Kanawha County while she was walking in the traffic lane.
