WV State and West Liberty Picked Tops In WVIAC

West Virginia Conference champions West Virginia State are the overwhelming choice by the coaches to repeat as the conference champions this season in men's basketball.

West Liberty, Alderson-Broaddus, and 2009 WVIAC Tournament winner Pitt Johnstown are followed by Charleston, Fairmont State, Wheeling Jesuit, West Virginia Wesleyan, Concord, and Seton Hill.  The ratings are completed by Shepherd, Davis & Elkins, Glenville State, Bluefield State, and Ohio Valley.  Salem International is not eligible for the 2009-10 WVIAC men's basketball championship.

The 2008-09 WVIAC regular season and tournament runner-up West Liberty is the favorite to win this season's women's basketball title by a vote of league head coaches.

The Toppers earned nine first-place votes to edge defending champion Charleston, Fairmont State, and Seton Hill in the voting.  Pitt Johnstown, West Virginia Wesleyan, Concord, and West Virginia State hold down the fifth through the eighth spots in the poll.

Shepherd, Wheeling Jesuit, Alderson-Broaddus, and Glenville State are in the ninth through twelveth positions.  Davis & Elkins, Ohio Valley, and Bluefield State round out the voting.  Salem International is not eligible for the 2009-10 WVIAC women's basketball title.
