A West Virginia man is facing murder and robbery charges in connection with the death of a 78 year-old Virginia resident.
David Hairm Gilbert, 24, of War, was arrested by police in McDowell County this week on a fugitive from justice warrant.
Police say Gilbert allegedly killed Leroy Shortridge of Grundy, VA. Back in November 2011, Shortridge’s body was found in a creek near his home.
Gilbert was indicted earlier this month by a Buchanan County Circuit Court on first-degree murder, attempted robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery charges.
Gilbert waived extradition. He’s currently being held at the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail in Haysi.
