Hurricane and South Charleston Won’t Play Basketball This Season

There will be no boys basketball game this season between Hurricane and South Charleston. Hurricane Principal Dick Campbell tells 58WCHS he and South Charleston Principal Mike Arbogast agreed to cancel the game after what happened in the Nov. 19 playoff football game.

"We just thought it would be in the best interest of both schools that we postpone that game," Principal Campbell said.

Campbell says the highly publicized football fight and the fallout afterward is something both schools would just rather move away from.

"Our relationships are normal anyway. I wouldn’t say they are abnormal," Campbell said. "I think both of us are just trying to be a little bit proactive here and let things die down."

The two basketball teams were scheduled to play at Hurricane on Jan. 10.
