Metronews Girls Basketball Power Index: FINAL Feb. 23

The two best girls’ basketball programs over the past several years top the final edition of this season’s Metronews Girls’ Basketball Power Index.

The two-time defending state Class AAA champion North Marion Huskies edge out the four-time Class AA champions, Summers County. Both teams finish the season undefeated and are the favorites in their respective classes heading into the playoffs.

University High finishes the regular season at No. 3 with their only two losses of the season coming to North Marion.  South Charleston and Bridgeport round out the top five.

Berkeley Springs is the only other Class AA team in the Top Ten, clocking in at No. 8.

St. Mary’s, the only other undefeated team in the state, remains the top rated Class A team at No. 12 followed by Charleston Catholic at No. 16.
