GW Upsets The Highlanders

What ended up being a close game in the first three quarters turned out to be the second upset of this year’s state tournament as the 6th seeded George Washington Patriots defeated the 3rd seeded Huntington Highlanders 58-45.

The Patriots were able to force the Highlanders to have one of their worst shooting performances of the season shooting 29.8 percent from the field. The most Huntington led by was eight points in the middle of the second quarter.

George Washington did very well getting points off turnovers scoring 16.

The leading scorer for the Patriots was senior Dri Nazario with 22 points. Up next for GW is South Charleston in the Class AAA semi-finals on Friday at 9:00 p.m. This will be the third time these two teams meet this season.
