Skyhawks Make Second Straight Championship Appearance

Points were at a premium in third seeded Scott’s 36-27 win over second seed Ravenswood in the Class AA semifinals. Both the Skyhawks and the Red Devilettes had trouble getting shots to fall throughout the game.
In such a defensive affair, Scott gained a big advantage out-rebounding Ravenswood by ten and limiting shot opportunities for the Red Devilettes. Scott’s Allison Whitman dominiated on the glass hauling in 13 rebounds and creating second chance opportunities for the Skyhawks.

Ravenswood scrapped its way to within three points with 5:45 left in the game but Scott went on a 9-3 run to put the game away.
Most of Scott’s offense came off the finger tips of Makenize White who scored 24 of Scott’s 36 points. White also hit a pair from behind the arch. The rest of the scoring was spread among several other players for Scott.
Hannah Gurtis and Emily Rector were the leading scorers for the Red Devilettes with 9 points apiece.
The Skyhawks will make their second straight appearance in the championship game Saturday afternoon.
