Fairmont State’s Abbey Wilson and Shepherd’s Nichole Pitcock have been named WVIAC Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, as announced by the league office Monday.
Wilson posted a .308 average for the week while starting all nine games. She posted eight hits, drove in six and crossed the plate herself six times. Five of Wilson’s eight hits went for extra bases. She tallied a double, two triples and two home runs while accounting for 19 total bases. Wilson belted out a slugging percentage of .731.
Pitcock had a stellar performance on the week. She went 4-2 for the Rams while helping head coach Leslie Lopez reach the 100-win plateau. Against Shaw, Pitcock tossed a one hitter. Against a solid Lock Haven team, she allowed just two hits. For the week, she accounted for 28 strikeouts in 29 innings.
