Marshall Women’s Golf Slips in Final Round of UC Spring Invitational

Marshall women’s golf slipped out of sixth place after combining for a 326 in the final round of the UC Spring Invitational on Sunday afternoon at the Plantation Golf Resort and Spa in Crystal River, Fla. The Thundering Herd claimed an 11th place finish in the tournament, tying with Florida Golf Coast as each posted a three-day total of 935 (302-307-326=935).

Senior Molly Ginger (Centerville, Ohio) shot a team-low 78 to finish tied for 22nd with teammate Allison Harper (Upper Arlington, Ohio).

Fatigue might have proved to be a factor as Samantha DiDomenico (Follansbee, W.Va.) and Rachel Thompson (Mansfield, Ohio) carded an 84 and 87, respectively in the final round.  DiDomenico finished with a 235 (73-78-84=235), while Thompson concluded with a 244 (78-79-87=244).

Kaci Boyd (Ashland, Ky.) rounded out the group with an 85 in her second tournament of the spring season.

North Texas shot a 289 on Sunday to jump in front of Morehead State and earn the victory with a tournament total of 882 (301-292-289=882).

Florida Golf Coast’s Briana Carlson shot a tournament-low 67 to pull away with the individual victory (74-70-67=211).
