Marshall dropped a midweek clash with Eastern Kentucky in Richmond, Ky., 9-6 after being swept in a three-game series at No. 25 Rice last weekend. The series against Georgia Southern serves as the off weekend for conference play for the Green and White.
The Herd offense has been led by senior Kenny Socorro who sports a team-best .313 batting average and had started 127 consecutive games. Junior Rhett Stafford has connected for a team-high four homers as well as 19 RBI.
On the mound, righty Shane Farrell toes the rubber in game one. He has been spectacular on the MU hill allowing just 30 hits in 36.2 innings and holding opponents to a .217 batting average against him.
The Eagles, who took two-of-three from the Herd last season, are led by Eric Phillips who is hitting at a .431 clip on the season, which ranks ninth in the nation in that category. Victor Roache is the top slugger for the visiting squad as he has left the yard 12 times, tied for second in the country in homers.
