Kennedy Wins Javelin at Ohio Women’s Team Challenge

Amanda Kennedy of the Marshall University women’s track & field team took first place in the javelin at the Ohio Women’s Team Challenge on Saturday at Ohio University.

Kennedy, the school record holder in the javelin, won her first event of the season. Her distance of 38.01m was one and a half meters clear of second place.

Brittany Carey took second place in the 100 meter dash in a time of 12.57, while Hadassha Lynch set a personal best in the 200 meters with a fourth place finish in the 200 meter dash and a time of 25.98.

Lauren DeHays also set a personal record with a height of 1.52m in the high jump. She finished third overall.

With four men’s events on the track, some of the MU cross country runners gave it a go at Ohio as Matt Schiffbauer and Chris Cole went 1-2 in the 800 meter run, while Schiffbauer also took first place in the 3,000 meter steeplechase.

The Herd is back in action next weekend when MU competes at the Sea Ray Relays hosted by the University of Tennessee.
