West Virginia Wesleyan standout Alvaro Ochoa has been named WVIAC Players of the Week, as announced by the league office.
Ochoa guided the Bobcats to a perfect 4-0 week, including a huge win at Bluefield State on Thursday. Ochoa went 4-0 in doubles action and 3-0 in singles play, with the fourth match being halted early due to the weather.
In the win over D&E while playing No. 1, he posted a 6-3, 4-6, 10-4 win over Agustin Ochoa while teaming up to win an 8-3 doubles match at No. 2. Against BSC as the top doubles team, the squad won an 8-6 decision. At the No. 2 singles slot, he beat Marcin Majchrzak 6-2, 6-7, 6-4.
In the win over Shepherd, he and his teammate defeated the No. 1 Rams team 8-6. In singles play at No. 2, he was leading Michael Lesko 7-5, 0-2 before weather forced an early finish. Against West Liberty at the top doubles spot, WVWC won 8-6. In the No. 2 singles match, he downed Erik Jahreskog 6-1, 6-2.
