Marshall women’s basketball head coach Royce Chadwick announced the signing of Alyse Poindexter to a National Letter of Intent beginning in the 2011-12 season.
Poindexter, a 6-1 forward, will look to make an immediate contribution to the Herd roster, who graduated its fourth all-time leading scorer and rebounder in Tynikki Crook.
“We are very excited to sign a player with Alyses’s abilities. She will be an instant impact player for our team. She fills a tremendous need for our program in the paint,” Chadwick said.
The Henderson, Ky. native, averaged 17.1 points per game and 11.7 rebounds per game at Henderson County High School, helping to earn Region 2 Player of the Year.
Following her sophomore season at Wabash Valley College Poindexter was ranked the No. 10 junior college player in the nation, averaging 9.4 points, 5.2 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game, snagging her a spot on the NJCAA All-American third team. Her 64% percent shooting from the floor was No. 2 in the nation in field goal percentage.
