Marshall women’s golf’s Allison Harper (Upper Arlington, Ohio), along with Molly Ginger (Centerville, Ohio) each shot a team-low 80 in round two of the Conference USA Women’s Championship at Peninsula Golf and Racquet Club on Monday afternoon.
Harper, who opened the tournament on Sunday with a team-best 77, is leading the Herd, tied for 27th place with one round remaining.
Rachel Thompson (Mansfield, Ohio) carded an 82 in second round action for a two-day total of 159, to stand tied for 32nd place.
Samantha DiDomenico (Follansbee, W.Va.) shot an 87, while Kaci Boyd (Ashland, Ky.) finished the day with a 91.
UTEP holds a three stroke lead over No. 13 Tulane, as the Miners shot a 302 in each of the first two rounds. Tulane combined for 607 in 36 holes of action. SMU and Memphis each sit at 608, just one stroke behind second place.
Tulsa’s Marita Engzelius improved one stroke on day two to snag a three stroke lead over UTEP’s Teresa Nogues and Tulane’s Maribel Lopez Porras. Nogues shot a 75 on Monday to lose control of her opening round lead.
MU opened the day in ninth place but UAB’s 323 in second round action moved the Blazers ahead of the Herd with 18 holes to play. Marshall finished the afternoon carding a 329 (316-329=645).
The final round of the C-USA Women’s Championship will take place Tuesday, with a scheduled 10 a.m., tee time. For live stats of Tuesday action click here.
