Michaela Kissell of the Marshall University tennis team has made her way on to the Conference USA All-Academic Team for the second-consecutive year, as announced by league officials on Thursday.
Kissell boasts a 3.72 GPA while majoring in finance. The senior from Hostetter, Pa., has been on Dean’s List and Honor Roll every semester she has been at Marshall. Kissell was a 2010 selection to the Conference USA All-Academic Team, was named the 2010 Spring Spirit of Service recipient, and was a 2010 and 2011 selection to the C-USA Commissioners Honor Roll.
On the court, Kissell has been one of, if not the most dominant player in Conference USA. In 2011 spring competition, Kissell has an overall singles record of 15-4 and a doubles mark of 19-1. She is ranked 53rd nationally for singles and 15th for doubles alongside teammate Dominika Zaprazna.
In her two years, Marshall’s ace has played her way into the top-10 for both singles and doubles winning percentage at MU. She has also cracked the top-20 for all-time singles, doubles and combined victories.
Kissell leads the Thundering Herd (17-5) into the Conference USA Championship meet this weekend, April 21-24, hosted by UCF.
