Track and Field Treks to Polytan Invitational

The Marshall University women’s track and field team embarks to Indiana University this weekend to compete at the Polytan Invitational on the Billy Hayes Track.

Joining the Thundering Herd at IU will be: Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Eastern Kentucky, Ball State, Butler, IPFW, Morehead State, Illinois, Marquette, Miami (Ohio), South Florida, Cincinnati, Xavier and Murray State. This meet will also be of use to the Herd as this will be the site of the NCAA East Preliminary Round.

The Herd has all of its big guns slated to compete in their strongest events this weekend with Vanessa Jules in the high jump, Elaine Derricott in the long jump, Amanda Kennedy in the javelin, and Amanda Hottenstein in the shot put.

Despite awful conditions last weekend at the Sea Ray Relays at Tennessee, the Herd was able to have some great individual performances and will look to carry that momentum into this weekend’s festivities. The weather should allow for perfect track and field conditions.
