Tee-To-Green Exclusive: Tom Lehman

Q: Do you feel on the Champions Tour that the guys on the tour take it very seriously?

A: They work very hard and they do take it seriously. They’re very business like in the way they approach their careers. Those guys understand that the clock is ticking and you need to take advantage of these years when you can, but I do think there is a different level of comradely. We do work hard and we do compete hard and play hard, but there is a way different attitude in the way the players relate to each other at this stage of life. It’s much like it was when we were amateur golfers and college golfers. It’s the same type [of] feel.

Q: You are getting ready to play at Shoal Creek this weekend. What are your thoughts about it? Have you had an opportunity to look at it? Or have you played there before?

A: No I’ve never seen it. I’ve heard it’s a good course. The guys who have played there speak very highly of it. I’m looking forward to seeing it and learning it and looking forward to playing there.

Q: So far you’ve won twice this season. What are you doing that has helped you play so well?

A: I feel like I’ve been doing a really good job of just keeping it really simple. I try to hit a draw every time and just play the draw all around the golf course so I don’t make it too complicated. I kind of play to my strengths, so I think more than anything that’s what I’ve been trying to do.
