Michaela Kissell and Dominika Zaprazna of the Marshall University tennis team will represent the Thundering Herd in the upcoming 2011 NCAA Tennis National Championship Tournament.
The No. 22 ranked-doubles team in the nation carries their 19-1 record with them to Stanford in hopes of capturing the doubles National Championship. The duo earned the right to participate in the 32-team field by being the highest-ranked tandem in Conference USA. MU, along with VCU, are the only two non-BCS qualifiers in the field.
Kissell will also being competing in the 64-player singles field. As the 52 ranked-player in the country, Kissell was the only individual from a non-BCS school to earn one of the 49 at-large selections.
Singles and doubles will be conducted from May 25-30 at the Taube Tennis Center hosted by Stanford. The brackets for both will be revealed just before competition begins in case of a student-athlete withdrawing.
