Brey Not Looking At Maryland Job

There were rumors coming out of South Bend, Indiana this weekend that Notre Dame head basketball coach Mike Brey was being considered for the head coaching job at the University of Maryland, but this past weekend he shot down those rumors.

Brey is currently in contract extension negotiations with Notre Dame and told The Chicago Tribune in a text message that he was not going to interview for the job at Maryland.

"No meetings. Go Irish!" said Brey.

The head coaching job at Maryland opened up when former coach Gary Williams announced he was retiring. Brey won the Big East Coach of the Year award and was named the AP Coach of the Year this past season for leading Notre Dame to a second place finish in the Big East and finished the regular season ranked fifth in the nation.
