West Virginia Wesleyan’s Kashilia Young garnered the Atlantic Region Player of the Year honor while 11 from the conference earned first or second-team accolades.
Young, along with WVSU’s shortstop Brittany Hyatt, Shepherd’s Amber Dudek (outfielder) and Nichole Pitcock (utility), all earned first-team all-region honors.
The WVIAC placed seven members on the second team as well.
Shepherd was just one of four teams to have a pair of players land a spot on the first team.
The Daktronics All-Region and All-America program uses an online nomination and voting process powered by ATHLETICSITE.COM and is selected by the sports information directors from institutions that sponsor softball in the Atlantic Region.
All First-Team selections advance to the All-American ballot. The 2011 All-American team will be released on Wednesday, May 25.
