Gamby Picks up NFCA All-Region Nod

Rebecca Gamby of the Marshall University softball team was honored by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association as she was named to the 2011 Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division I All-Region Second Team on Thursday morning.

“Gamby had a great year in all regards,” said head coach Shonda Stanton. “She really stepped up as a leader, excelled in the classroom and performed so solid behind the plate. She is doing her very best on and off the field and is an incredible example of an excellent student-athelte.”   

All-region teams were chosen by NFCA member coaches from each region, with Gamby representing the Mideast Region on the Second Team at the catcher’s position. This is the second time the junior has been named to the Mideast All-Region Second Team, also picking up the accolade in 2010.
