Concord Ends Its Season In The Tournament

Concord fell to East Stroudsburg Sunday afternoon, eliminating the team from the NCAA Tournament by a 17-3 score.

The Mountain Lions fell behind 2-0 in the first frame and ESU extended the margin to 14-0 before CU was able to get on the board in the fourth.

In the fourth, Jacob Mays was hit by a pitch on a 3-2 count. Josh Wenger brought him home with a double to left center. Nick Sydnor waled to put two on base.

Bret Blevins’ single through the left side loaded the bases with none away.

With one down, Ian Humphrey beat out an infield single to the pitcher, scoring Wenger. A sacrifice fly by Zach Cloxton brought Sydnor home for the final of CU’s three runs.

For the Mountain Lions, Humphrey went two-for-three.

Wenger, Sydnor, Blevins and Gattoni all had hits for CU.

Wenger struck out two over 2.2 innings of work.
