Potomac State Wins Game One

The Potomac State Catamounts played their earliest game of the season on Saturday and the early start didn’t seem to affect them at all. The Catamounts defeated Jefferson College 8-5 in the opening round of the Junior College World Series in Grand Junction, Colorado.

Potomac State’s Zach Markle went 3 for 4 with three RBIs in the win and Martinsburg native Ryan Bennett added an RBI. Catamounts ace Andy Smithmyer picked up the win.

Up next is a Monday evening match up against top-ranked Central Arizona College Vaqueros at 7:30 p.m. Central Arizona defeated South Georgia 13-3 in five innings to advance. A complete recap of the game will be right here at WVMetroNews.com once it is complete.
