Braxton County had it eyes set winning a second consecutive Class AA state championship, but Chapmanville was too much for the Eagles. Chapmanville defeated Braxton County 10-2 in the Class AA semi-finals.
It was tough for either team to get anything going offensively until the bottom of the 4th inning when Chapmanville broke out of its slump to score five runs. The inning was capped off by two triples that cleared the bases, one by Cliff Hall and the other was by Josh Easterling.
Things were quite for the Tigers until the sixth inning when they added some insurance runs. Chapmanville scored four runs in its final inning on offense to increase its lead to eight runs. The Tigers Craig Johnson picked up the win and pitched a complete game and gave up only two runs.
