It is the calm before the storm!
Many residents from the state of West Virginia will be converging on the historic Greenbrier Resort this week for the Greenbrier Classic PGA golf tournament. It is an event that many people call a "West Virginia Reunion."
The activity starts today with the 1st Pro Am on Monday afternoon. Among the pros that were out early on the driving range this morning for today’s Pro Am are the popular John Daly, former PGA champ Rich Beem, veteran Lee Janzen, Hunter Haas and Will Strickler.
Greenbrier owner Jim Justice, a former college golfer at Tennessee and Marshall, will play in Daly’s foursome in the Pro Am. Tim Dagostine, a former four-time all state basketball player at Poca and a former college player at the University of Charleston and Marshall, is also playing in the event. He is teamed with pro Duffy Waldorf.
Also out early today on the driving range was W. Va. State Amateur champ Christian Brand. Brand, a former Capital High School and Marshall golfer, won the State Am by nine strokes. He received an exemption to play with the pros on the PGA tour this week.
It is relatively quiet now at the Greenbrier, but it won’t stay that way. Stay wtih MetroNews to catch all of the flavor of this year’s event.
