Troy Evans Facing Five Felony Charges

Suspended Marshall wide out Troy Evans is facing four counts of felony first degree robbery and one count of felony wanton endangerment for a string of robberies in downtown Huntington over the weekend.

Police alleged Evans held a gun to Michael C. Fortier’s head and demanded his wallet and cellphone.  Police say Evans made off with the wallet and phone.

He is also accused of holding a gun to Dustin C. Mann’s head and robbing him of his wallet.  Police also allege that Evans fired his handgun while robbing Mann.

The string of alleged robberies continued.  Police says Evans held Matthew L. Myers at gunpoint until he turned over his wallet.

The complaint goes on to accuse Evans of holding Timothy John Hughes at gunpoint.  Police say Evans held the gun to Hughes chest and cocked the hammer before making off with his wallet.

Police say they used descriptions from the victims and video surveillance to identify Evans as the suspect.

He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing in Cabell County Magistrate Court on Sept. 9th.

On Tuesday, Marshall Head Coach Doc Holliday released a statement that Evans had been suspended indefinitely.

Evans, a senior from Oakland, Calif., caught 21 passes for 225 yards and 3 touchdowns last season.  He also averaged about 23 yards per kick return.  He ran one back for a touchdown.

He’s currently in the Western Regional Jail on $250,000 bond.
