Fairmont State rolled past Bowie State Thursday night in a non-conference contest, 49-20.
The Bulldogs took an early 6-0 lead off a touchdown pass but could not convert the extra point as the Falcons blocked it.
With 3:27 to play in the first quarter, Mark Sampson reeled in a Logan Moore pass for a 33-yard touchdown. The extra point gave FSU the lead for good.
Matt Wilmer hauled in a beautiful pass from Moore almost five minutes into the second quarter for a 45-yard touchdown. Daniel Monroe added his first touchdown of the game, coming on a 25-yard run at the 6:41 mark.
Brian Turner recovered a fumble a rumbled into the end-zone for a three-yard touchdown, making the score 28-6 with 5:55 to play before halftime. Damon Waters’ nine-yard jaunt gave the home squad a 35-6 lead at the intermission.
Monroe notched his second touchdown of the day coming on a seven-yard run to make the score 42-6 with 13:08 to go in the third frame.
The Falcons substituted freely in the second half but still managed to tack on another touchdown. Matt Griffin had a three-yard run to complete the scoring for the home team with 6:18 to play.
FSU amassed 412 yards of total offense in the game. Moore threw for 185 yards and two scores while Monroe tallied 144 yards on 19 carries with two touchdowns. Wilmer led the receivers with four catches good for 86 yards and a touchdown.
Raynell Hall and Garrett Davis each had nine tackles in the win. Davis posted five for loss while Hall broke up three passes.
The Falcons improve to 5-1 on the season while Bowie State falls to 3-3.
