Shepherd 3, Seton Hill 0

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W. Va. – Shepherd recorded a 3-0 home win over visiting Seton Hill Saturday in women’s soccer action.

Tiffany Banks tallied the first goal of the match from six yards out off an assist from Morgan Gabriel. It proved to be all that the Rams needed.

Kelsey Eagan blasted a free kick from 25 yards out in the 43rd minute for a 2-0 lead at the break. Lexi Vondrak took a pass from Banks at the 85-minute mark on a breakaway for the final score of the night.

Tessa Jones stopped seven shots in the shutout win. Bethany Winter had five saves in the loss for the Griffins.

Alderson-Broaddus 6, Pitt-Johnstown 0

PHILIPPI, W. Va. – Alderson-Broaddus scored three goals in each half en route to a 6-0 home win over visiting Pitt-Johnstown.

Kasie Shoemaker led the way with two goals in the victory.

Olivia Augustine scored off a pass from Amber Klinge in the fourth minute for a 1-0 advantage. Shoemaker scored in the 15th minute of play. Megan Johnson and Chelsea Gilliam were each credited with an assist. Gilliam scored her goal in the 30th minute. Gwen Brand and Kristi DeChristopher each had an assist on the play.

In the 71st minute, Nicole Lehman scored off a penalty kick. Shoemaker notched her second goal in the 74th minute off a pass from Sarah Holmes. Taylor Michael accounted for the last goal of the day, coming at the 80:50 mark off a pass from Reed Caldwell.

Victoria Der Vanik had 12 saves in the loss for the Lady Cats. Kate Laird had a save in the win.

WV Wesleyan 2, Notre Dame 1

BUCKHANNON, W. Va. – West Virginia Wesleyan jumped on top early and never looked back en route to a 2-1 non-conference win over visiting Notre Dame.

Rachel Ritchey posted both scores for the Bobcats. She notched the first goal of the match in the 18th minute in the upper right of the frame. Ritchey scored what turned out to be the game-winning goal in the 27th minute, blasting a shot into the right side of the net.

Caroline Lalley played all 90 minutes between the posts for WVWC, collecting the victory. She had one save in the match.

Slippery Rock 3, Wheeling Jesuit 0

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Wheeling Jesuit dropped a non-conference match at Slippery Rock Saturday by a 3-0 score.

The Cardinals played even until SRU scored the game-winning goal in the 32nd minute.

Jennifer Fletcher stopped seven shots in goal for WJU. The team managed just one shot in the contest, coming off the boot of Megan Newrones. The Cardinals totaled three corner kicks.

FRIDAY

Washington Adventist 1, Ohio Valley 0

VIENNA, W. Va. – Ohio Valley dropped a 1-0 non-conference match to Washington Adventist Friday afternoon.

WAU scored the goal in the fifth minute to take the lead.

The Fighting Scots rocketed off 20 shots in the match but put just five on frame. OVU could not tally an equalizer despite 12 second-half shots.

Abbi Menear had four saves in the loss.

Slippery Rock 4, Pitt-Johnstown 0

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Pitt-Johnstown dropped a 4-0 decision at Slippery Rock Saturday in a non-conference men’s soccer action.

The teams played to a scoreless draw through the first 43 minutes of play. However, a free kick gave SRU a 1-0 lead just before the break.

The home squad added three second-half goals in the win.

Michael Cuccaro notched 10 saves in 69 minutes of action for the Mountain Cats. Nolan Levine had three in the last 21 minutes of play.

UPJ had six shots and two corner kicks in the match.

Shippensburg 3, Wheeling Jesuit 0

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Wheeling Jesuit dropped a non-conference men’s soccer contest at Shippensburg Saturday.

The Cardinals fell behind in the 11th minute of play. The home squad tacked on a goal in the 30th and 86th minutes, respectively.

WJU launched 10 shots in the contest to go along with six corner kicks.

Cody Thompson and Brody Tejkl each had a save between the pipes for the Cardinals.
