Former Mountaineer defensive end Bruce Irvin turned some heads by posting an unofficial 4.43 40-time during the NFL Combine. That speed was easily the fastest among defensive linemen. His officially listed 40-time was still an impressive 4.5. Irvin, however, is expected to mold into more of an outside linebacker in the NFL. Still, when compared with the linebackers in the combine, Irvin’s time is still right there at the top.
Overall among defensive lineman, Irvin was a top performer in four of the six categories. Besides the 40-time, he finished at the top of the pack in broad jump (123 inches), three cone drill (6.70 seconds) and the 20 yard shuffle (4.03 seconds). He also finished with a bench press of 23 reps and a vertical jump of 33.5 inches.
Goode, meanwhile, finished with a 40-time of 4.64 seconds, a vertical jump of 35.5 inches and a broad jump of 117 inches.
