Elijah Macon is having a phenomenal season with the Huntington Prep Express and will be heading to Morgantown over the summer to beginning his college career with the West Virginia Mountaineers. According Huntington Prep head coach Rob Fulford his academics are all in line and he is expected to make to the University City in June.
Macon is a native of Columbus, Ohio and committed to WVU for the second time back in September before he signed with the Mountaineers during the early signing period. Fulford was recently a guest on the MetroNews Statewide Sportsline and talked about his team’s success and, of course, Elijah Macon.
“He didn’t need to leave his high school for basketball purposes,” said Fulford about Macon decision to come to Huntington Prep this season. “He was going to be signing at West Virginia regardless. He needed it for a change of pace academically, to be held accountable on a day-to-day basis for academics. Sometimes from a basketball standpoint, in college athletics, it’s a job when you get to that level.”
