Buckeyes Flip Thompson’s Commitment

West Virginia’s total number of commitments in the 2013 recruiting class went from one to zero. Over the weekend, former WVU commit Jayme Thompson switched his verbal from West Virginia to Ohio State.

Thompson went on a visit to OSU this past weekend and became the seventh commitment in the Buckeye’s 2013 recruiting class. The 6-foot-2 safety from Toledo Central Catholic in Toledo, Ohio originally committed to WVU the day after signing day.

Since Thompson informed the Buckeye coaching staff of his decision to flip his commitment, many Buckeye fans have expressed their support for Thompson on his Facebook wall.

Besides offers from WVU and Ohio State, Thompson also was offered by Bowling Green, Illinois, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, Notre Dame and Vanderbilt.

The talented Ohio safety was highly pursed by Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer, even after his commitment to WVU, and the Mountaineer coaching staff has been unsure for some time if Thompson would stay true to his commitment.
