WVIAC Softball Weekly Awards

Fairmont State’s Carly Mundie has been named the WVIAC Player of the Week while WV Wesleyan’s Hillary Perez-Ashley has been named WVIAC Pitcher of the Week, as announced by the league office.

Mundie, a 5’9” rookie infielder from Pittsburgh, Pa., guided the Falcons to a 5-1 week, including a 4-0 mark in WVIAC action. She posted a .474 batting average on a nine-of-19 week. Four of her nine base hits went for extra bases, including two doubles and two homers. She also posted a team-high nine RBI and slugged .895 for the week while crossing home five times. Mundie notched round-trippers against Point Park and West Liberty.

In the win over WV State, she went the distance, giving up just one hit while striking out four in the 1-0 win. Against Charleston, she tossed all five innings in the win. She gave up two hits and two runs while striking out five. Her effort gave the Golden Eagles their first conference loss of the season.
